How AI is transforming healthcare industry

Image
The medical industry is utilising artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the accuracy of diagnoses and improve the overall patient experience. Advanced computer programs and informatics are employed to process large amounts of medical data through machine learning models, resulting in improved medical outcomes, clinical settings, and research quality.  In this article, we will explore the various ways AI is applied in the medical field and the benefits it offers.   AI in diagnosis and disease detection Since AI can work round-the-clock, it provides more information than human beings about patients who are under critical care and need intensive observation. Modern machine learning models can consistently monitor several vital signs of patients in the intensive care unit. By analysing this data, these models can generate more precise diagnosis outcomes than human observation alone. In critical illnesses such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and sepsis, the accuracy of diagnosis has been...

Fighting fraud: How AI is strengthening banking security

Image
By Shaghil Bilali The banking and finance industry has found Artificial Intelligence to be useful in various areas such as sales forecasting and risk management. Yet, among its many applications, fraud detection in banking stands out as a particularly impactful use case. By leveraging a combination of supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms, Artificial Intelligence can enhance fraud detection capabilities. This is achieved by gaining a deeper understanding of customers' behaviors, enabling organizations to identify and prevent unauthorised activities more effectively. Types of banking frauds  Authorised push payment – In this type of fraud, the perpetrator typically deceives the payer into approving a payment to a fraudulent recipient. The recipient may present themselves as a genuine individual or business and may employ tactics like phishing to obtain authorisation for the payment. What could the ethical boundaries be for chatbots?

Image
By Shaghil Bilali Not even two months old, ChatGPT is becoming increasingly popular at a rapid rate. Despite being at the machine-learning stage, the chatbot is completing some of the most challenging tasks in mere moments or minutes. The most recent development from the AI software came when Pieter Snepvangers, a student from a US university, announced that he tested ChatGPT to see if it could pass a difficult exam. Astoundingly, the AI technology composed a 2000-word essay in only 20 minutes, a task that would usually take a student around 12 weeks of studying. When his teacher at the university reviewed his essay, he remarked that the writing seemed suspicious; nevertheless, he graded the paper with a '2:2' or 53 marks out of 100. It was just last month when in a study, the same chatbot passed the final exam of an MBA programme designed for Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.  Professor Christian Terwiesch, who authored the study, raised concerns, saying that students might be ch...

Google's $100B error turns out to be a global embarrassment

Image
By Shaghil Bilali Are chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard foolproof? No. They may not have up-to-date results of your queries, they may mix results, or they may be completely unaware of your query results despite sufficient information about them available on the internet (I will prove my point later in the write-up).  But what will you say when a chatbot as renowned as Google's Bard delivers an incorrect result that costs its parent company Alphabet's shareholders more than $100 billion? That’s what happened on Wednesday morning, when an advertisement designed to show off Bard’s capability showed that the chatbot came up with an astonishingly wrong result, only to be quickly called out by the global audience.  Photo by Daniel Romero on Unsplash In a promotional ad running on Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s blog, the chatbot was asked how to explain to a nine-year-old what the James Webb Space Telescope has discovered. Bard responded that the telescope took the ‘very first pictures of ...

Image
By Shaghil Bilali OpenAI's revolutionary ChatGPT garnered attention late last year, while Google's Bard followed in its footsteps a few days back. While these are the most well-known chatbots around the world, there are a number of artificially intelligent websites that can save you thousands of hours, substantial money, and significant resources.  Some of them are free, some are partially paid, and some are fully paid, but they seem worth every penny and help an amateur to accomplish tasks of a pro. I take you through some of the most sought-after AI sites.        1. www.synthesia.io/    It allows you to create a video by just typing text. OpenAi's Chat vs Google's Bard: Which AI programme is better

Image
By Shaghil Bilali Ever since ChatGPT hit the market in late November last year, the dominance of the Google search engine appeared to be under threat. With Microsoft-backed ChatGPT taking the early-edge, Google has hit back with gusto by launching Bard, its long-awaited reply to ChatGPT. My take on which service is better Recently, Google's Bard AI has been released to challenge Open AI's Chat GPT. Both platforms will offer chatbot services to the public; however, there are several differences between the two. Google's Bard has been developed for advanced chatbot conversations, with a focus on natural language generation and natural language understanding, while Chat GPT is specialized in generating long-form content and providing answers to questions. Bard focuses on faster response times while Chat GPT is designed to generate better quality content. Both platforms have their own strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to the user to decide which one is most suitable for th...
